Shawn P. Skelton 44, passed away unexpectedly at his home on February 11, 2024. He was born on May 16, 1979 in Sioux City, Iowa. He moved with his family to Ankeny in November of 1980. He was the son of Denny and Gin Skelton. He leaves behind his greatest joy his son, Patrick, brothers Matt (Brandy), Jay (Erin), Dan (Carina), Stephen, nieces Kayla, Jennah, Kate and Ruby, nephews Jack and C.J., significant other Susan Uknes, and many uncles, aunts and cousins.
Shawn held a master plumbers license and had been employed by The Waldinger Corporation. He was a member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union 33. Shawn graduated from Ankeny High School in 1998.
Shawn possessed a great sense of humor. He had a perpetual welcoming smile and a laugh that filled the room. He was loved by many and loved hard in return. He loved his Iowa Hawkeyes, Indianapolis Colts, Chicago Cubs, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and the English Premier League team Chelsea.
He was preceded in death by his best friend and brother Chris, grandparents Leone and Harold Skelton, Esther and Arnold Bockenstedt, uncles Bob Skelton, Dr. Tim Bockenstedt, Dr. Joel Huth, aunts Carol Skelton and Joan Bockenstedt, and cousins Bruce, Tyler and Ellee Bockenstedt.
A private family showing was held February 15, 2024. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in the spring. The burial will be at Ankeny Memorial Gardens in Ankeny.
