Shawna Kay Brown (Hester) was born on July 4, 1966 at Seminole Municipal Hospital to Kenneth and Martha (Jackson) Hester. She passed peacefully on December 11, 2025 in Seminole, Oklahoma, at the age of 59. Shawna was a lifelong resident of Seminole and she deeply loved her community.
Shawna graduated from Strother Public Schools in 1984. She was an excellent cook and spent much of her life working in restaurants she loved, including Downtown Café, Pit Stop and The Roadhouse. Cooking for others was one of the many ways she showed her love.
Shawna was a faithful member of Highway Baptist Church. She was an amazing friend and wonderful mother. Above all else, she was most proud of her girls and her grandchildren. Shawna loved spending time with her family, especially her girls and the babies who made her world go around. She was also proud of her sons-in-law, whom she loved as her own.
Shawna was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Hester; grandparents, Buck and Evelyn Hester and Margie Jackson; uncle, Harvey Hester; aunts, Dorothy Prewitt and Mary Beth Whilhelm; and cousin, Penny Perry.
Shawna is survived by her daughters, Kayla Ringle and husband, Charles of Paden, and Dakota Cheatwood and husband Trevor of Paden; her mother, Martha Hester of Seminole; brother, Mark Hester and partner Dusty Dosh of Seminole; her sisters, Laura Immel and husband Joe of Seminole, and Kenna Hester of Midway, Tennessee; and grandchildren Taylor, Reese, McKenzie, Kollin, Ryder Ringle, Hadlee and Hailee “Bean” Cheatwood. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Shawna will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Her friendships, guidance and advise will leave a lasting void in the hearts of many.
Viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 15, 2025 and from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
Services for Shawna will be held on December 17, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Highway Baptist Church. Graveside services will follow at Little Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
