With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, daughter, sister, and friend, Shayna Alexis Simon, who left this world on Saturday, May 17th, with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer.
Shayna was a remarkable woman whose love knew no bounds and whose strength inspired everyone who knew her. She lived her life with passion, grace, and unwavering dedication to those she loved. Whether through her tireless work ethic or the warmth she poured into her family and friendships, Shayna gave her all-always putting others before herself. Her legacy is one of compassion, resilience, and boundless love.
Shayna was born on January 8, 1984, to the late John "Jack" Arthur Simon and Lora Faith Simon. She is preceded in death by both her parents.
She is survived by her devoted spouse, Henry Michael Hammonds, of the home; her children, Alexandra Simon and Lora Hammonds of the home; Kirsten Hammonds (Alex), Sierra Hammonds, and Dakota Hammonds (Christal), all of Lumberton. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Gracelyn Oxendine and Xander Walters, Nicholas Hammonds (on the way) of Lumberton.
Shayna is also lovingly remembered by her stepmother, Debbie Schmitz (Gene) of Lumberton; her bonus parents, Phillip and Denise Hammonds of Lumberton; her sisters-in-law, Amy Campbell (Larry) of Pembroke and Vanessa Sanderson (Brian) of Lumberton; her bonus daughter, Aleshanee Scott; and her two best friends, Sarah Thompson and Kay McDonald. She leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved like her own.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who offered love and support throughout the past seven months. Your kindness meant the world to Shayna and to all of us.
