Sheila Renee Hostetler, aged 51, passed away on March 23, 2025, in Dodson, LA,. Born in Natchitoches, LA, on October 15, 1973. She grew up with a heart deeply rooted in her community and heritage.
Preceded in death by her grandmother Zelia Mae Dubois and father Perry Vernal Desadier.. Sheila's legacy is one of enduring warmth and an indomitable zest for life. She leaves behind a void that echoes with laughter, wisdom, and the footprints of a life lived fully and magnanimously.
She is survived by her mother Linda Dickson.
Sheila found her soulmate in Duane Charles Hostetler Jr. 34 years ago and married in 1993 and spent the last 32 years as a loving wife, and together they nurtured a beautiful family, including their two devoted sons, Duane Charles Hostetler, III and Perry Hostetler. The blessings of her life multiplied with the arrival of her cherished grandchildren, Brinley Mae Hostetler and Colsen Lane Hostetler, who brought her endless joy and pride.
A proud member of the Butte Tribe, Sheila's commitment to her culture and the betterment of her tribe underscored everything she pursued. She understood the value of hard work and brought her whole self to her endeavors, both in her job and in the causes she supported wholeheartedly. An outdoorswoman at heart, she had an unbridled passion for hunting and fishing – skills that she passed on with love to her children and grandchildren. She was a steward of the earth in all her pursuits, whether it be through tending her garden, which she did with exceptional care, or farming alongside her family, who together harvested both crops and cherished memories.
Her culinary talents were legendary, with an ability to can the harvest of the season, cook up delectable meals, and indulge in finer cuisines – experiences she relished both in making and sharing. Sheila's love for the thrill of a good find made shopping an adventure and a joy, not just for acquisitions but for the memories crafted along the way.
Adventure was woven into the fabric of Sheila's life, often found riding the trails on her four-wheeler or traveling to new destinations where her inquisitive eyes beheld wonders near and far. She enjoyed the simple pleasure of horseback riding, dancing with a spirit that was contagious, and reveling in the delights of crabbing and camping under the stars. Always eager to experience the beauty of the world, Sheila's sightseeing trips were moments she collected like precious treasures, each unique and deeply cherished.
To say that Sheila was faith-filled would be an understatement. Her spiritual journey was the cornerstone that supported her in moments both joyous and challenging. Her unshakeable faith was a haven, not only for her but also for many who were inspired by her unwavering belief. She approached life with an infectious loving nature.
