Sheila Dale Maier (née Frank) (January 28th 1955 – August 19th 2025)

Sheila Maier passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 19th, at 9:10 PM at Siskin Hospice Care, surrounded by friends and family. Born in Chattanooga on a chilly Friday in January of '55, she was the loving child of William and Edna Frank. She attended East Ridge High School where she was extremely active in school programs and sports; She was the Homecoming Queen and a cheerleading captain. It is a testament to her and the impression she left- her character, kindness and compassion- that many of her high-school classmates visited her in her final days, just to see their friend one last time.

During and after high-school she settled in St. Elmo where she met her first husband, Mike Stinson, with whom she had Brianne ('79). Mike passed in 1981. She remarried thereafter to Frank Maier, with whom she was married for 10 years and had Jordan ('87) and Morgan ('89). At the age of 55, in 2010, her older brother Mike passed away due to cancer, so she adopted his sons, Dylan ('01) and Alex ('03).

Sheila was always active, be it sports like Tennis and Softball, to outdoor activities like hiking or walking her beloved dogs; She traveled, whenever she could to the beaches of Florida, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina with her daughters, son, nephews, and grandchildren; and, an avid lover of all genres of music, she frequented concerts, even into her 60s, with friends and family. At home, she stayed just as active, decorating and transforming her side patio into a beautiful (to this day) rose garden and sculpting the rest of the property into so much more than it was when she began. She made everything she touched better.

For 25 years she worked at UPS in the mornings and weekends while working numerous odd-jobs the rest of the time; her 2 most notable ones being the decade she worked at Zarzour's with Shannon, Mary, Joe, Shirley and a host of others and the 6 or so years she worked and managed The UPS Store on Highway 153. Despite her busy work and social life, she was a dedicated family woman who adored her many nieces (Angel, Vanessa, Christie), nephews (Chad, Tyler, Carter), grandchildren (Hunter, Jaylen, Ashlee, Sophia), and great-grandchildren (Shelby, & Nae'Lani) and, thus, always had a busy household that was full of life.

Anyone who knew Sheila knew she was an AVID supporter and lover of animals. She had parrots, cats, and dogs all throughout her life. With the help of her son Jordan, and her nephews Alex and Dylan, they fostered tons of lost dogs over the years until they could be rehomed by friends or East TN Alliance for Animals. Even when her disease truly began to slow her down, she remained dedicated to her dogs: Jack, Viscous, and Frank Jr. Jr.- with her sons, Dylan, Alex, and/or Jordan (always) close by.

Sheila is survived by her aforementioned children, nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as her baby brother David and older brother Pat. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Edna, and her older her brother Mike.

A service will be held on Saturday, August 30th from 4PM to 7PM at Lane Funeral Home and South Crest Chapel.
