Sheila A. "Harden" Malcolm

GLENVILLE - Sheila A. McGarry Malcolm, 84, of Saratoga Road, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Albany Medical Center.

Born in Cohoes, she was the cherished daughter of the late George L. and Jeannette M. Ducat Harden and a proud 1959 graduate of Cohoes High School.

Sheila dedicated over 25 years of her career as an insurance agent with the Rose & Kiernan Insurance Agency in East Greenbush before retiring in 2003. More than any title, she will be remembered for her generous spirit and kind heart. Sheila found joy in caring for others, never hesitating to welcome someone in need - even inviting strangers to share her Thanksgiving table. She especially treasured time spent with her grandchildren, along with simple pleasures like playing cards and working on puzzles. She never cared for goodbyes and was lovingly known for her long, lingering goodbye hugs.

She is survived by her loving longtime companion, Richard Herzog, and was predeceased by her husbands Robert E. McGarry Jr. and David Malcom. Sheila was a devoted mother to Colleen Fredette (George) of Kearsarge, NH; Kimberly Allain (George) of Waterford; Kevin McGarry of Texas; and Erin M. McGarry of Glens Falls.

She was the dear sister of the late George Harden and Joan Alston, and a proud and loving grandmother to Amanda Guilbault (Mike), Nichole Boyer (Jeff), Kyle McGarry, Lauren Carrier (Joel), Ashley Allain, Courtney Roman (Greg), Aaron Jacob Allain, and Emily McGarry. She is also lovingly remembered by several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Sheila's life on Monday March 9, 2026 at Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad Street (Route 32), Waterford. Interment will follow at Saratoga National Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 pm, prior to the service which will be held at 12:30 pm at the funeral home.
