Sheila Phillips Onorato of Roebuck, SC passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at the age of 66. She was born in Charlotte, NC on May 18, 1958, a daughter of the late Millie Mae and Willie H. Phillips.
A graduate of Gaffney High School, Sheila had various careers. She worked in production and as a banquet server before finding her passion serving as a social worker, helping the elderly navigate and secure essential benefits.
Sheila and Armand were together for 38 years - they established a home where they raised their two wonderful daughters who were the light of their life. Sheila also loved singing, dancing, and being gifted flowers, especially daisies. She found joy and peace in nature, whether it was tending to her flowers, visiting the mountains, or vacationing at the beach. These were moments that filled her heart and created lasting memories with her family and friends.
Sheila is survived by her husband, Armand Onorato; daughters, Gemma Onorato of Greenville, SC and Carissa Onorato Dingman (Ryan) of Charlotte, NC; granddaughter, Rhea Dingman; brother, Dennis Phillips (Donna) of Gaffney, SC; and sister, Julia Mae Padgett (Pat) of Chesnee, SC. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Mike Phillips, Gene Phillips, and Timothy Bo Phillips.
Visitation will be 12:30-1:45pm on Monday, December 30, 2024 at J. M. Dunbar Funeral Home, 690 Southport Road, Roebuck, SC 29349. Funeral services will follow in the chapel at 2:00pm, conducted by Rev. Rick Taylor. Interment will immediately follow the services in Heritage Memorial Gardens.
She was known and loved for her direct demeanor and kind honesty, even in the midst of her recent health struggles. Sheila will be truly missed by all who knew her. “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18
