Shelagh M. Beringer
May 5, 1952 – July 4, 2025
Shelagh M. Beringer of Plain City, Utah passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025, surrounded by her family holding her hands. Born on May 5, 1952, to John and Mary Suski, Shelagh lived a life defined by compassion, generosity, and a deep-rooted passion for helping others.
Shelagh's professional accomplishments reflected her dedication and intelligence. She spent over 30 years working at Hill Air Force Base (HAFB), ultimately retiring as the Material Manager for the C-130 landing gear program. Her expertise continued to be valued even after retirement from Civil Service-she worked for ES3 as a Logistics Specialist.
Her heart was as expansive as the landscapes and animals she loved to photograph. An amateur photographer with a keen eye and a love for nature-particularly Yellowstone's majestic wolves-her work was published many times, capturing the beauty she saw in the world.
Shelagh's devotion to community service was unwavering. She volunteered with Freedom Riders, taught adult literacy, and brought joy to disadvantaged residents of Wide Horizons through annual snowmobile trips. She sponsored children in the Philippines with school supplies and participated in the "Adopt an Elder" program for the Navajo Nation. Her giving spirit extended close to home through her regular support of St. Joseph Catholic Schools, where she herself was a student, graduating in 1970.
Her faith as a devout Catholic was a cornerstone of her life. Her love of animals was legendary-her beloved dogs Bert, Ernie, Joey, Sadie, & Freddy were cherished family members, occasionally rivaling even her adored husband Neal for her affection.
She is survived by her husband, Neal Beringer; her children Sean Daley (Kristy), Michelle Daley, and Tricia Beringer; her siblings Peggy Miconi (Dennis), Kate Keyes, Bridget Mitchell, and John Suski (Susan); numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who brought joy and light to her days.
She was preceded in death by her son Jared Beringer, brother Steve Tolman, parents John & Mary Suski, her brothers-in-law Bruce Beringer, Barry Johansen & Craig Keyes, sister-in-law Nadine Beringer.
Shelagh's legacy is stitched into the lives of those she uplifted-through her kindness, her laughter, her photographs, and her deep belief in giving. She leaves behind a world that is better, brighter, and more beautiful because she was in it.
The family would like to thank Intermountain Health & Hospice, especially Kellianne for the great care mom received in her last months. Mom loved Kellianne and her fiery personality. Thank you for showing such care and laughter with mom.
A funeral Mass will be held in Shelagh's honor at St. Joseph Catholic Church 514 24th Street, Ogden, Utah, on July 18th at 11:00 AM, preceded by the Rosary at 10:30 AM in the church. In lieu of flowers please donate to the charity of your choice.
