Shelby Jean Dye, 86, of Gastonia, NC, passed away on November 18, 2025, at her residence. She was born on December 18, 1938, in Graham County, North Carolina, to the late Annie Faye Brock Slaughter.
Shelby was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughters, Rene Porch, Annette Saunders, and Amanda Wilson, as well as five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren who will carry on her legacy of love and kindness.
Throughout her life, Shelby had a passion for travel, sharing many adventures with her late husband, Ray. Their journeys together were marked by their shared love for exploration and discovery. Additionally, Shelby had a profound compassion for animals in need, always seeking to lend a helping hand to those less fortunate.
Known for her fairness and kindness, Shelby easily made connections with those around her, often brightening their days with thoughtful cards sent through the mail. Her ability to make others feel cherished and valued will forever be remembered by her family and friends.
Shelby Jean Dye leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, compassion, and adventure, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Graveside services will be held privately by her family.
