Shelby Jean Banks Rockmore, age 84, born Oct.20, 1938, entered her heavenly home on October 6, 2023, under the care of her daughter, Debbie Allgood, and Northeast Georgia Hospice of Gainesville, GA. She was a native of Auburn, GA and graduated Winder-Barrow High School in 1956. September first of that same year she married the love of her life, Jimmy Rockmore of Winder, GA. In 1958 Shelby and Jimmy moved to Glennville, GA where they lived most of all their adult life. Shelby and Jimmy were faithful members of Glennville Free Will Baptist Church where Shelby served in many capacities. Shelby was a faithful wife and mother. She loved to cook for her family, other relatives, friends, and church functions. After Jimmy’s death in 1997, Shelby worked as an assistant teacher at Glennville Christian Academy.

Health issues necessitated Shelby’s move back to Winder, GA to be cared for by her son, Greg Rockmore and daughter, Debbie. Shelby joined Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Auburn, GA, but health issues kept her from attending as often as she wanted. She remained a faithful prayer warrior.

Shelby is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Jimmy Rockmore; her, parents, Herman (H.G.) and Pauline Banks of Auburn; her two sisters, Betty Smith, and Jennie Ruth Autry, both of Auburn; her in-laws, Kermit (M. K.)  and Annie Rockmore, of Winder; granddaughter, Hillary Jean Smith; and great granddaughter, Victoria Faith Smith.

Shelby leaves behind her 3 children: Debbie (Ray) Allgood of Winder, Kellie (Howard) McNeal of Eldridge, AL, and Greg (Vickie) Rockmore of Winder; her 7 grandchildren: Erica (Ruben) Zaveleta of Eldridge, GA, Michael (Jessica) Smith of Winder, Jared (Barbara) McNeal of Brilliant, AL, James (Mallory) Rockmore of Monroe, Ga, Timothy (Melissa) McNeal of Lake Butler, FL, Anna (Clayton) Bingham of Flowery Branch, GA, Tyler (Janae) Rockmore of Rock Hill, SC. Shelby also has 2 step grandchildren: Sonja (Jeff) Crenshaw of Helena, AL and Jason (Kelley) Allgood of Fernandina Beach, FL. Shelby has 24 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.  She also leaves behind many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. All will miss her greatly!
