“Well done my good and faithful servant” Matthew 25:23
Sheldia “Sharon” Medlock Fetters, of Moline, passed away quietly in her own home on October 23, 2025, at the age of 83.
Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday November 14, 2025, at Moline Memorial Park.
Sharon was born in Nyssa, Oregon on May 29, 1942, to Nola and Sheddie “Jack” Medlock. She was the fourth of five sisters and the second youngest in the family. She graduated from Nyssa High School in Nyssa, Oregon on May 15, 1960.
On June 1, 1962, Sharon married the love of her life, George Fetters, in Rock Island, Illinois. The couple made their home in Moline, Illinois, where they shared a beautiful marriage marked by devotion, faith, and adventure. Together they traveled widely, exploring many parts of the United States and the world – including memorable trips to Israel and Alaska.
Sharon and George shared a passion for history and participated together in Civil War re-enactments, with Sharon dressed in elegant attire of women from that era.
Those who knew Sharon remember her for her gentle spirit, remarkable intelligence, and unwavering faith. A passionate follower of Jesus Christ, Sharon lived a life dedicated to prayer – lifting up family, friends, her community, and the world. She supported many ministries and Christian organizations, including the American Bible Society’s “Bible-a-Month” program that sent bibles to believers around the world and Prison Fellowship. Through heartfelt correspondence, she offered encouragement, mentorship, and friendship to many incarcerated individuals whose lives were deeply touched by her kindness.
A lifelong learner, Sharon was well-read and curious about the world around her. Her interests ranged from classical literature and art to foreign languages and theology. Above all, she was a devoted student of God’s Word, memorizing and reciting long passages of Scripture with remarkable recall.
Sharon lovingly cared for her husband, George, during his long illness, showing strength and compassion through every season. During that time, she also became certified through the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program, advocating for many nursing home residents, working to improve their quality of life.
Art was another of Sharon’s passions. She enjoyed collecting paintings, prints, and sculptures and was delighted to discover her own hidden talent for painting after an art class later in life.
One of the most meaningful roles Sharon embraced was helping to raise her nephew, Ryan, from the age of six. She became a second mother to him and profoundly shaped his faith and values.
Sharon will be remembered as a devoted wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend – whose faith, kindness, and quiet strength touched all who knew her.
God bless you!
She is survived by her sisters, Janet Jackson, Rebecca Ledford, Phyllis Leseberg, and their families.
