Shelley King Siriano passed away peacefully in Greer, South Carolina, on November 10, 2025, at the age of 77 after a brief illness.
Born on January 17, 1948, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Shelley enjoyed a life defined by perseverance, love and a good time. She worked hard to put herself through college earning a bachelor's degree at Lycoming College in Williamsport. She went on to receive her master's degree at Florida Atlantic University and a degree in administration at Loyola University.
In Maryland, Shelley worked in education for over 25 years, where she spent most of her time as a science teacher in both middle and high school, closing her time in education there as an administrator before her retirement in July of 2002. Shelley then moved to Cape Coral, Florida but was drawn back to her life's calling: working in administration for Lee County Schools until 2010. She also served as president with the local branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), raising funds for scholarships supporting young women's education.
Shelley loved her Florida community, but once she visited Greer, South Carolina, she knew she had found her place. She settled into a cozy little home she adored, surrounded by the peace and charm she always dreamed of.
If you ever had the chance to visit with Shelley, you clearly understood the love and pride she had for her family and their accomplishments, how deeply she adored her sweet old "Red Cat," Poe, and how delighted she was by her new baby kitties. Shelley was a "patio pot" gardener, an avid reader, a huge Ravens supporter, the best chocolate chip cookie baker, and the keeper of the family's dilly bean recipe.
Shelley was predeceased by her youngest son, Benjamin Janes, and is survived by her eldest son, Dereck Janes (Nicole); her grandchildren, Laillah Janes, Cruze Janes, Benjamin Janes, Katharine Baker (Alex) and Edward Hartle (Ashley); and her great-grandchildren, Maxine Baker and Edward Hartle.
Family and friends will remember Shelley for her generous spirit, quick wit and the love she shared with all that were close to her. Her memory will live on in the laughter, stories, and traditions she leaves behind.
