Sherley L. Crowder, 87, born on April 13, 1938, in Dunbar, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025, at Bluebird of Marysville. He led a remarkable life marked by dedication, adventure, and a commitment to service.

Sherley began his career in computer technology with IBM and further advanced his expertise at Laser Plane, where he earned the unique opportunity to work on the Alaska Pipeline. His passion for aviation was exemplified when he obtained his commercial pilot's license, which opened doors to exciting opportunities in his professional journey. In the latter part of his career, Sherley devoted his skills to Honda of America, contributing significantly to the company’s success.

Beyond his professional life, Sherley proudly served his country in the United States Army, demonstrating a steadfast devotion to his nation throughout his service. He was a graduate of Dunbar High School.

In his personal life, he was an avid hobbyist; enjoying woodworking and photography, he often combined these interests by capturing the performances of the Southern Gospel Quartet, whom he followed to various shows. An amateur radio operator from the age of 17, he developed a lifelong passion for connecting with others through this medium. Sherley attended the Middleburg Community Church, where he found a sense of fellowship and support.

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty (Johnson) Crowder, whom he married August 10, 1996, at the Raymond United Methodist Church; his daughter, Suzannah Crowder of Marysville and his son, Michael (Karin) Crowder of New Mexico; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arch and Annie Crowder; his brother, Arch; his sister, Dottie; and a grandson.

Services to celebrate Sherley’s life will be held at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, November 1, 2025 at the Middleburg Community Church 11287 OH-287 Middleburg. Pastor Jim Davis will officiate, and Military Rites will be conducted by the Union County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday, beginning at 3:00 P.M. at the church. Those attending are invited to stay for a luncheon at tthe church immediately following the services. Memorial contributions can be made to the Union County Humane Society and envelopes will be available at the church.
