David Speicher Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ingram Funeral Home - Marysville on Mar. 2, 2026.
David M. Speicher, 89 of Marysville, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2026. David was born in Goshen, Indiana on August 12, 1936 to the late Charles M. and Eva M. (Smith) Speicher. While attending Bluffton College, David met the love of his life, Carol Ann Kent. They were wed on August 24, 1958 at the North Lewisburg Methodist Church. David and Carol graduated and not only began their careers as educators together, but started their family together as well. David would go on to earn his master's degree from Michigan State University and complete additional graduate level training at The Ohio State University while serving as principal of Fairbanks High School and Junior High School in Milford Center, Ohio. David returned to his alma mater, known now as Bluffton University, to serve as the alumni director and assistant director of development for many years. After retiring from Bluffton University, David served on the board of the Marysville Public Library for nearly 14 years, including a term as its president.

David knew that the value of education was not measured in diplomas or degrees, but rather in knowledge and wisdom gained. David's quest for knowledge was vast, from his fascination with American history, to more creative subjects that included literature, prose, and theatre. He even enjoyed a good book or discussion on astronomy. David was a devout Christian and studied his Bible as well. He was a long-time member of Cornerstone Global Methodist Church and faithful viewer of the online streamed services in his final few years. Though many found him very mild-mannered, studious and reserved, David had a brilliant sense of humor. David enjoyed vacationing with family, especially in the Smokey Mountains and historic Williamsburg. Above all, David will be warmly remembered for his love for God, his family, and his community.

David will be dearly missed by his children, Robert (Janice) Speicher, Susan (Joseph) Edinger, David (Tami) Speicher, and Steven (Susan) Speicher; his grandchildren, David (Oliva) Edinger, Joel (Kendra) Edinger, Joy Edinger, Caleb (Cindy) Speicher, Lydia Speicher, Amanda Speicher, Alyssa Speicher, Lauren Speicher, Evan Speicher, Nathan Speicher, and Seth Speicher; his great-grandchildren, Lettie, Clara, Archie, Owen, Hank, Molly, Ben, Sam, and Solly; his brothers-in-law, Richard (Janice) Kent and Ted Thompson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and generations of students that he inspired. David is reunited in heaven with his wife of 62 years, Carol Ann Speicher; his sisters, Mary Sue (Phil) Yoder and Joy Thompson; his brother-in-law, Robert Kent; and his grandson, Josiah Speicher.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026 from 10 AM until the time of his Funeral Service at 12 NOON at Cornerstone Global Methodist Church, 207 S. Court St., Marysville, OH 43040. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery.
