Funeral services for Sherman Dale King, will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Gallagher Funeral Home, 3994 Monroe Highway in Ball, Louisiana with Brother Robert Dukes officiating. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Ball, Louisiana.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are James David King, Ty Kirtland, Jonathan Whatley, Beaux Russell, Sean Russell, and John Mayeux.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 from 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
Sherman Dale King, age 72 of Tioga, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at home, in the loving arms of his wife, Debbie on Thursday, June 12, 2025.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Amanda Leonard; his parents, James Arthur and Mary Ellen King; his grandparents; his sister, Sandra Deason; and his brother, Garey King.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 49 years, Deborah King; his son, James David King (Kelsey); his grandchildren, Harper Rose King, Mia Marie Leonard, Sage Henagan, and Alyssa Foster; his sister, Janell King McKee; his nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. Sherman was born on October 2,1952 to James Arthur and Mary Ellen King in Alexandria, Louisiana, He was christened at Pineville United Methodist Church in Pineville, Louisiana, and graduated from Bolton high school in 1971. In his youth, Sherman played Dixie youth baseball, and football at AJH and Bolton.
He retired from the Alexandria Police department in 2005 after 28 years of faithful service.
An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing. Above all, Sherman was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who loved spending time with his family, friends, and his dogs. He will be forever remembered for his warm heart, great sense of humor, and kind generous nature.
