Sherman C. Sittman, age 80, of Manitowoc, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at the Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Sherman was born on June 27, 1944, in the township of Franklin, a son of the late Clarence and Eleanor (Reitmeyer) Sittman. He grew up in Grimms and attended the "One Room School in Grimms" and Reedsville School.
Sherman worked for Brillion Iron Works, Northern Elevator Company, he worked on a few farms, cement work as a bricklayer, 18 years at Lakeside Packing, retiring in 2009. He also was a former member of the Manitowoc Eagles.
Sherman enjoyed listening to classic rock and roll and old-time country music as he would call it, including Waylon, Willy, and Johnny Cash to name a few. In the past, he enjoyed going to the local pubs around Manitowoc to shoot pool and spend time with friends, especially Glenn's Bar. Sherman had been living at Fieldcrest Manor since 2022 and looked forward to his niece Tammy Scholten, picking him up each week and dropping him off at Glenn's Bar for a few cheeseburgers. Also, he loved to play the "Claw" machine and win stuffed animals to give as prizes at the home when they played Bingo. Most of all, Sherman loved spending time with his daughter who he treasured, his granddaughters who he absolutely adored, and his two little great-granddaughters who were the apple of his eye. He loved going out to eat with them. His favorite places to take the girls to eat were Bud Williams, Golden Flame and Toby's Diner. He loved going shopping with his girls and loved going to the park, watching them play while seeing the joy and happiness on their faces.
Sherman's granddaughters want him remembered as The Best Grandpa Ever. He always made sure they were always taken care of and if there was something they needed, Grandpa made sure they got it. They will always remember all the funny crazy stories he would tell them. Most of all, they will remember the love he had for them.
Survivors include one daughter: Tina Newby, Manitowoc; two granddaughters: Samantha Newby and Mattison Newby, Manitowoc; two great granddaughters: Alana and Maya Newby; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Melvin Sittman, Manitowoc and James (Jennifer) Sittman, Manitowoc; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Darlene Burns, Manitowoc and Georgeen (Leo) Burns, Brillion.
