Sherri Clemen was born on December 28, 1967 in Manchester, Iowa. She was the daughter of Kenneth Clemen and Elaine (Thein) Weidemann. Sherri graduated from West Delaware High School in Manchester in 1986. On October 24, 1992, Sherri was united in marriage to Jeff Shields in Manchester. Sherri previously worked at Dura as an Engineer. When they closed, they offered to have Sherri go to a different location, but that is when she decided to go to culinary school and obtained her degree from Le Cordon Bleu College in Minnesota. She worked in various places in food service. Sherri worked at UIU (Upper Iowa University) in Fayette, Iowa as the head of the kitchen and also catering. She took a job offer at NSU (Northern State University) in Aberdeen, South Dakota to further her skills in the kitchen to be a chef and manager. As her children were getting older and starting families of their own, Sherri wanted to be closer to family, so she accepted a job offer in Marshalltown at JBS for being in charge of the kitchen and scheduling. After a while she decided to take a break from the food service and in the last few years she started working at Jeldwin in Grinnell, finishing interior and exterior doors. Sherri loved to cook, especially bake. Candies were her specialty, and friends and family always knew they would get a “goodie tray” around the holidays. When Sherri cooked, nobody would leave hungry. Sherri was a leader, and always in charge, yet she showed kindness and compassion. She also enjoyed reading, wearing fuzzy socks and had a love for animals, especially cats and dogs. Above all else, Sherri cherished the time spent with her family, but most of all her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Sherri is survived by her husband of 32 years, Jeff. Children: Derek “D.J.” (Carlee Brandenburg) Shields of Freeport, Illinois, Seth (Sam) Shields of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, and Kenzie (Justin) Meyer of St Lucas, Iowa. Grandchildren: Noah, Kyleena, Kenalynn and Jaxton. She is also survived by her mother: Elaine and brother: Ken Clemen of Springville, Iowa.
Sherri is preceded in death by her father: Kenneth and sister-in-law: Rose Starr.
