Sherrill Lynn McConnell-Cody, of Portland, MI, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2024, at the age of 73. Born on June 12, 1951, in Lansing, Michigan, Sherrill's life was a tapestry woven with joy, family, and an unwavering spirit of giving.
Sherrill's attended Grand Ledge High School and graduated with the class of 1969. Her education laid the groundwork for a fulfilling career with the City of Lansing, where she worked diligently as a print operator.
Sherrill's final days were spent surrounded by the love of her family. She was a cherished wife to her husband of 24 years, Jerry Cody, and a nurturing mother to her son, Jason McConnell, and his wife, Kerry. Sherrill's joy was multiplied with the birth of her grandchildren, Nathan, Aidan, and Kellen, who filled her life with laughter and pride.
Sherrill's family circle included her devoted brother, David Frederick, and his wife, Kathy, as well as her nephew, Ryan Frederick, nieces Stacey (Frederick) Garcia and Tammy (Frederick) Lake, who all held special places in her heart. She was preceded in death by her husband, James McConnell, loving parents, Walter and Elizabeth (Newkirk) Frederick, brother, Terry Frederick, and nephew Terry Frederick, who were undoubtedly waiting with open arms to welcome her into eternal peace.
Beyond her family, Sherrill's world was brightened by the pitter-patter of furry feet, her beloved Boston Terriers, Eli and Peyton. They were not only her pets but her cherished companions, sharing in her love for travel and adventure.
Sherrill had a passion for the open road, often found traveling and camping in her motorhome, her competitive spirit shone through in her love for bowling, where she enjoyed both the thrill of the game and the camaraderie of her teammates. Sherrill's artistic side was revealed in her beautiful embroidery work, a testament to her patience and attention to detail.
No services will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in loving memory of Sherrill McConnell-Cody to Elara Caring Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association. The family has entrusted arrangements to Mills Funeral Home, Peters & Murray Chapel, Grand Ledge.
