Sherron Ann Westerfield, a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many, passed away on January 21, 2024, at 82. She was born on April 1, 1942, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and was the daughter of the late William and Jimmie Martin Westerfield.
Sherron was a proud 7th-generation Kentuckian who deeply appreciated her family's history, whose Westerfield ancestors were among the builders of the Old Mud Meeting House in Harrodsburg. She dedicated her life to researching and documenting her family's ancestry, becoming a talented writer and researcher. Her passion for preserving heritage extended to her involvement in the Daughters of the American Revolution St. Asaph Chapter (DAR). She volunteered at the Harrodsburg Historical Society, a member of MENSA, and a contributing writer for the Advocate Messenger.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her son Richard Maxwell Stepp, her brothers James Sheridan Westerfield, William Hankla Westerfield, and Brent Martin Westerfield
Sherron is survived by her loving brother, Logan (Nancy) Westerfield, who was her rock and constant companion throughout their lives, several nieces and nephews, and many good friends.
A Celebration of life will be held at 12 p.m., Friday, February 2, 2024, at Stith Funeral Home. A gathering of friends to honor and celebrate Sherron's remarkable life will be 11 a.m. Friday prior to the service. She will be buried with her family at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Lexington.
