Jack Westerfield, a beacon of love and faith, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025, in Evansville, IN leaving a legacy of kindness and dedication that will continue to inspire all who knew him. Born on September 11, 1934, in Cromwell, KY, Jack's journey was marked by an unwavering commitment to his family, his faith, and the joy he found in sports.
In the tapestry of life, few threads are woven as beautifully as those of a loving family man. Jack's devotion to his wife of 42 years, Donna Westerfield, was the cornerstone of their vibrant and nurturing home. Together, they raised three children, Scott (Michele) Westerfield, Roger Westerfield, and Mary Beth (Matt) Wade, who in turn blessed them with six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Jack is also survived by his brother, David Westerfield and a sister Yvonne Brown. Jack's love enveloped his family, creating a warm, affectionate environment where laughter was abundant, and memories were cherished.
Though Jack now joins his predeceased parents, Blain and Margaret Westerfield, and his siblings, Lawrence, Eddie, Glen, Jimmy, Eva Knight, Frances Haven, Theda Daughtery, Ann Lampton, and Linda Jo Westerfield, the values he instilled in his family are immortal.
Jack's life was a testament to the power of service and community. As an umpire for softball and a referee for basketball, he demonstrated fairness and integrity, earning the respect of players and spectators alike. He attended the Washington Avenue Church of Christ. Jack's gentle spirit was a source of comfort and strength to his church family, and his contributions to the community were immeasurable.
His passions extended beyond the playing fields and pews. Jack was a true family man, with a heart as wide as the open road and a love for country music that was as deep as the roots of his Kentucky home. With his beloved furbaby Winston by his side, Jack found joy in the simple pleasures of life, cherishing every moment spent with family and friends.
Jack Westerfield's character was a mosaic of loving kindness, unwavering faith, and gentle guidance. He was the embodiment of a life well-lived, a life that serves as a motivational testament to the enduring power of positivity and love. To know Jack was to know a man who walked the talk, whose actions were a constant echo of his heart's intentions.
As we celebrate the life of Jack Westerfield, let us carry forward the torch of his legacy. Let us embody his loving nature, his faith-filled approach to life's challenges, and his gentle way of guiding others. In doing so, we honor not just the memory of a man, but the enduring spirit of a soul who touched so many.
Jack's journey through this world was a masterclass in living with purpose and passion. His story does not end with his passing; it continues in the lives he shaped, the games he officiated, the prayers he shared, and the songs that he loved. Jack Westerfield's life was a melody of compassion and kindness that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who were privileged to know him.
In remembering Jack, let us not dwell on the loss but rather embrace the profound impact he made on each of our lives. Let us be inspired by his example to enrich the lives of others, to lead with love, and to create a legacy as enduring as his. Jack Westerfield, a true champion of life, may have concluded his earthly innings, but his spirit will forever umpire the best in us.
