Sherry Louise Abernathy

Mrs. Sherry Louise Abernathy, age 53, of Ellijay, Georgia, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026.

Sherry was born on October 16, 1972, in Cumming, Georgia, to the late Herbert Fowler and Joyce Dillard. She lived a life centered around the simple joys that meant the most to her. Sherry found peace with a fishing pole in her hand and happiness strumming her guitar, sharing her love of music with those around her.

Above all, Sherry's greatest pride and joy was her family. She loved her children deeply, but nothing brought a brighter smile to her face than her grandchildren. She treasured every moment spent with them - laughing, sharing stories, and making memories that will be cherished forever.

Sherry will be remembered for her loving heart, her free spirit, and the special way she made those around her feel cared for and valued. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Sherry is survived by her children, Tony Fowler, Dekota (Brianna) Abernathy, Heather (Devin) Keener, all of Ellijay, GA; brothers, Johnny Fowler, Jody Fowler, and Jamie Fowler; sisters, Tabitha Turpin and Margie Tatum; 6 grandchildren, Mason Fowler, Skyler Fowler, James Fowler, Sage Keener, Stryker Keener, and Edward Abernathy.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 20th at 3 pm from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Ree and Linda Dillard officiating. Interment will follow in the Yukon Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Dekota Abernathy, Tony Fowler, Jody Lee Fowler, Hayden Lee Fowler, Adam Lee Fowler, and Christon Turpin.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 20th, from 11 am until 3 pm at the funeral home.

Flowers and Food will be accepted.
