Sherry Lynn Holcomb, 56, of Mishawaka, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 4, 2025. Born on September 14, 1968, in South Bend, Indiana, Sherry was the daughter of Roger Allen and Blanche (Bennett) Holcomb. She graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1987 and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Lee College in Cleveland, Tennessee. Later, she completed her master’s in education from Grand Canyon University.

For over 33 years, Sherry dedicated her life to teaching math and science at John Adams High School in South Bend. She was more than just a teacher, she was a mentor who poured her heart into her students, listening to their stories, guiding them through life, and leaving an impression on countless young lives. Her passion for teaching extended beyond the classroom through her YouTube channel, where she helped make math more accessible to students around the world.

Sherry is survived by her mother, Blanche Holcomb; her siblings, Dawn (Brian) McCartney and Roger A. Holcomb Jr., all of Mishawaka; and her beloved nieces Brittney (Joseph) Zientek, Allison Turner, and Chrissy Turner. She also adored her great-nieces and nephews; Blaine, Emilia, Autwin, and Rosemary, whom she loved like her own grandchildren. Her "grandpups," Ivy and Thistle, held a special place in her heart and she loved spoiling them rotten. She was welcomed into Heaven by her father, Roger A. Holcomb Sr., who passed in 1992.

Sherry was known for her honesty. She told it like it was, and people loved her for it. She had a creative side and enjoyed crocheting, crafting and experimenting with essential oils. She loved game nights with her family, sharing laughter and togetherness playing cards and board games.

Most of all, Sherry’s life was rooted in faith. She boldly shared the love of Jesus everywhere she went, at school, at church, and even with strangers. A lifelong member of Ireland Road Church of God, she served faithfully over the years as treasurer, bookkeeper, VBS coordinator, and in church plays. She also enjoyed being a part of the Bible Club at Adams High School.

Sherry's compassion reached far beyond Indiana. For the past 13 years, she sponsored a child, Wycliff Saidi Kazungu, in Kenya through Compassion International, forming a lifelong bond across the miles. Her family wishes to continue supporting him until they’re reunited in Heaven. A secure crowdfunding link is available below for those who wish to help.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Ireland Road Church of God, 16555 E. Ireland Road, Mishawaka. A celebration of Sherry’s life will follow at 12 p.m., officiated by Bishop Charles Wiseman. For those unable to attend in person, a livestream will be available below.
