Sherry Ann Mulkey, 66 of Levelland passed from this life April 4, 2021. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at Krestridge Funeral Home.  A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, April 8, 2021, at South Plains Church.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Shirley; her brother, Danny; her son, Will; and her grandparents.  Sherry graduated Levelland High School in 1973.  She went on to South Plains College and Texas Tech University and graduated with a teaching degree.  Sherry coached tumbling and trampoline for over 50 years and was the owner of West Texas Training Center, in Levelland.

Sherry married Randy Mulkey December 19, 1989 and together they raised 5 children, and many others who needed a place to call home.  Throughout their life together they have been adventurous with racing jet cars, skydiving and traveling.  They moved out to the Boxcar Ranch and began roping, raising horses, cows and birds of all types.  Sherry loved Jesus and was passionate about sharing His love to those around her.

She loved coaching children of all ages.  Gymnastics was her passion and teaching kids to become better people was always her goal.  At one point or another, all her children, grandchildren, and even former athletes coached by her side.  A once-in-a-lifetime dream came true when she and Will went to the Olympics in 2012.  She opened her home and her heart to so many young people throughout the years and everyone who knew her, knew she saw the highest potential in all of them and she would give the shirt off her own back to help them reach that potential.  It is said “Behind every fearless athlete is a fearless coach who refused to let them be anything but the best they can be.”  Sherry was fearless; she made everyone she coached feel fearless and she brought out the very best in those around her.

Sherry is survived by her husband, Randy; daughters Sandy Billington (Darrell) of Levelland; Penny Green-Rios (Jason) of Beeville, J-Lyn Poage (Cody) of Levelland, and Jennifer Cunningham (Matt) of Wylie; her father, Bill Arnwine of Lubbock; her brothers, Jackie and Don; and sister, Belinda.  Her grandchildren Chelsea (Jay), Braden (Krysta), Daniel, Brittan, Brooke (Mike) Joey, Brinlie, Brooklyn, Jesse, Devyn, Brent, Brian, Rylan, Mattie and Max. Her great grandchildren Camden, Landon and Nolan; and many nieces and nephews.  Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she loved them all so much.  Her passing will leave a hole in our community but her legacy is a HUGE one and will remain affecting us for decades to come.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to High Plains Rodeo Bible Camp, PO Box 1337, Levelland, TX 79336.
