Sherry Joy Rentz, 70, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Pruitt Health Magnolia Manor of Moultrie.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, October 5, 2025, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Reverend Julian Griner officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. Bobby Bragg, Lavon Stripling, Mickey Hood, Samuel Bostic, Chip Fowler, and Jerry Tillman will all serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Sherry was born in Moultrie on November 2, 1954, to the late James Lloyd Rentz and Mamie Maxine Tillman Rentz. She dedicated more than 40 years of service to the Colquitt County Board of Education, where she touched many lives through her kindness and commitment. Sherry deeply loved animals and spent countless hours supporting the Moultrie Humane Society, working tirelessly to help rescue and care for animals in need. She also found joy in music, especially country, with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band being her lifelong favorite. She will be remembered for her compassionate spirit, her devotion to family and friends, and the joy she brought to those fortunate enough to know her. Sherry was of the Presbyterian faith.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandparents, Reverend Charlie and Eunice Rentz, and Woodrow and Evelyn Tillman.
She is survived by her aunt, June Tillman Nation of Moultrie; cousins, Mickey Rawls of Texas, Sandra Westbury-Parker of Virginia, Susan Bragg and husband Bobby of Rochelle, and other cousins and extended family.
