Sherry L. "Ogletree" Rucker

Sherry L. Rucker, of Clairton, PA, was born on July 21, 1950, in McKeesport, PA, to the late William Ogletree and Cherry Cousar. As the eldest girl among her siblings, Sherry embraced her role with grace and strength, often serving as a guiding light and steady presence for her family.

Sherry took immense joy in hosting family cookouts and lively card games, where laughter echoed and memories were made. Her home was a haven, not just for her loved ones, but for anyone in need. She fostered and adopted many children over the years, offering love, stability, and a place to call home. Her heart was always open, and she was quick to rescue those in need, never hesitating to extend a helping hand or a warm embrace.

She also had a deep love for travel and history, often journeying to Washington, D.C. and throughout the South to visit museums and cultural landmarks. These trips fed her soul and reflected her lifelong curiosity, appreciation for heritage, and desire to connect with stories larger than her own.

Her compassion extended beyond her family. Sherry worked at a local nursing home, preparing meals for the elderly and sick with care and dedication. She found purpose in serving others, and her kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.

On August 5, 2025, Sherry peacefully departed this life at her residence in Clairton, PA. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Marvin Rucker; her parents, William Ogletree and Cherry Cousar; and her siblings, Maynard Ogletree, Richard Cousar, and Nathaniel Cousar.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience, survived by her cherished children: Terrance Ogletree, Marva Rucker, Lisa Rucker, Lexis Rucker, and Phoebe Elem; fourteen adored grandchildren, some being LaQuinta, Pierre, Monnisa, Will, and Terrance along with her great-grandchildren; her siblings Jacqualyn Harris, Sheila Ogletree, Tyrone Ogletree, Eddie Ogletree, and Arleatha Ogletree; her beloved foster children; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Sherry wished to live out her days in the comfort of her own home, and her oldest grandchild, LaQuinta Carr (her number 1), with the assistance of her other family helping in her care, made the unwavering sacrifice of serving as her primary caregiver during this time. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to LaQuinta for the immaculate care she provided, and for the love and support that helped Sherry feel deeply cherished in her final days. We also thank her daughters Marva and Lisa for taking care of her arrangements.

Sherry's life was a testament to compassion, community, and unwavering strength. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
