Sherry Tomasko, age 73, of New Ulm passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, March 7, 2026 in New Ulm.
A private family celebration will be held at a later date. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.

Sherry is survived by her daughter, Chris Benarroch; sister, Leslie (Harry) Portner; brother, John (Jolene) O'Hare; three grandchildren, Claire Benarroch, Jack Benarroch, Ethan Benarroch; niece, Abby Portner; nephews, Joe, Mike, and Tony Portner; five great nephews, Sam, Jake, Jack, Jamison, and Harrison Portner; close friends, Vicky Helget, Deb Fritz, Kathy Kamins; special furbabies, Maudy and Poppy; and many extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Tomasko; sister, Julie; and stepson, Greg Tomasko.
Sherry O'Hare was born February 2, 1953 to Jim and Bens (Benson) O'Hare in Mankato. She graduated in 1971 from St. Mary's High School in Sleepy Eye, where she also had the honor of being voted Ms. Sleepy Eye in 1971. Sherry then attended Estelle Compton Modeling School and worked as both a model and instructor for Estelle Compton and John Robert Powers Modeling. She was united in marriage to John Tomasko. Over their marriage, they lived all over the United States. Starting in Dallas, CA, then Chicago where she worked at Baird & Warner Realty as a realtor and continued her education at DePaul University. The couple then relocated back to Minnesota, where Sherry was employed as social worker at MRCI over the years until retirement in May of 2024.
Outside of work, Sherry loved to travel. She also enjoyed going shopping, tending to her flower garden, and spending time with her friends, family, and beloved animals. She lived life to the fullest, especially near the end of her life where she traveled and explored as much as she could. Sherry will be dearly missed. Blessed be her memory.
