With great sorrow and bittersweet emotion, the Hartman, Wein, Moros, and Miller families announce the passing of our loving, kind, brave, caring, and unimaginably generous wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, colleague, and friend, Sherry Amelia Wein Hartman. She was born on October 1, 1960, in
Anniston, Alabama, to Billy and Fran Wein. She departed this earthly life on February 23, 2023, at Flagler Hospital in
St. Augustine, Florida, at the age of 62. She resided in St. Augustine since 1998, relocating from
Geneva, Florida.
Sherry graduated from Jacksonville (AL) High School in 1979. She embraced her adulthood with the birth of her daughter Sarah in 1980 launching a beautiful and wonderous life's journey. She started her career in the medical field, completing her training in Central Florida to become a Firefighter in 1983 kickstarting a 23-year career as a first responder. This was soon followed by completion of paramedic schooling. She retired from the Seminole County Fire Department where she worked as a Firefighter and Paramedic until 2006.
At age 35 she met and married her partner and confidant, Daniel Edward Hartman and his two children Amanda and Daniel Jr. With her newly expanded family, she created countless unforgettable, happy memories.
Sherry enjoyed her retirement by spending time with her grandchildren making many good memories. She loved walks on the beach with her husband Dan to watch the sunrise. In her youth she was a talented softball and racquetball player, and later she enjoyed sports with her fellow firefighters. She was rough and tough and somehow did it all with grace! She loved sports, especially watching college football with her dad and husband. She was passionate about helping people, and a caregiver to many. She was an active member of Awaken City Church where she participated in the weekly Sunday service childcare and JESUS CARES food bank programs to give back to the community and reach those in need.
Sherry also volunteered to serve as a Family Readiness Group Coordinator, helping service members and their families prepare for and endure, sending off their soldiers and teaching them how to navigate the resources available to them during such challenging times. This provided a great service and comfort to many military families at a difficult time. She continued in this role until service members returned home.
Sherry was an amazing wife, mother, daughter, and loyal friend. She loved the outdoors, camping, and traveling to new places, and she loved to play in the rain! She embraced taking on new opportunities and she did everything with enthusiasm, honesty, and integrity. She was well liked and always made time to help others, exemplifying her "pay it forward" philosophy and attitude. She touched the lives of so many people. She will truly be missed and will never, ever, be forgotten. Her legacy will carry on forever reminding us that we control our attitudes. She chose to live a life of meaningful acts of love and service, like Christ modeled for us.
Sherry is survived by her husband of 27 years, Daniel; three children; Sarah Miller (Glenn); Amanda Moros (Chris); Daniel Edward Hartman Jr. (Laura); parents Billy and Fran Wein; sister Anita Wein; brother Billy Wein; and her cherished grandchildren Sydney, Isaac, Lucas, Nicholas, and Melody. She was preceded in death by her sister, Judy Wein Antoon.
Sherry – your body gave out, but you and your heart always lifted us. Our pigeon-toed, pixie girl, tomboy – you will live forever in our hearts. We will see you again one day with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her honor can be made to Awaken City Church, 84 Theatre Drive Suite 400,
