Sherry Elaine Winn, passed away suddenly at her home in Fruita, CO on April 11, 2023 at the age of 57.
She was born July 22, 1965 to James Kay Lawrence and Elaine Francis Lawrence in Safford, AZ. Upon graduating from Safford High school she moved to Dallas, TX. In Dallas she began a career as an administrative assistant. On May 28, 1991 her son; Chance Chriss Winn was born. In 1998 they moved to Valparaiso, FL. At this time the first of her two most cherished jobs began as she became a full-time mom. She stayed busy running her "Mom Taxi" as a Boy Scout mom, football and baseball mom. Around town she was known as mom to many and always had an open door and arms. In 2004 she started the biggest fight of her life when she was diagnosed with Castleman's Disease (a rare, incurable disease). During this time she never once let her smile fade or her faith waver. She always found the bright and positive in all things and all situations. In 2008 when her health started to decline she and Chance moved to Fruita, CO. She was inpatient at St. Mary's Hospital for multiple months. From then she started to become stable enough she was able to live a "normal" life. Sherry fought for every milestone, thanking God for every day she had. In 2019 her second favorite job arrived when her first grandchild was born. Shortly following that her second grandchild was born in 2020. She would excitedly exclaim that she had "Two of them! A girl and a boy"! She would always say "my cup runneth over, I have everything I have always prayed for". Her oldest grandchild came up with the name of "Ahma" for her and she quickly became Ahma to all around her. She became the Ahma Taxi; running grandbabies to and from preschool and various activities. She was always willing to do anything and everything she could for them and enjoyed each moment she was blessed with. From cake pops and Happy Meals to snuggles, her grand babies were always taken care of and loved beyond measure. She was well known at various craft fairs around town where she would always find the best gifts for her family and friends. She especially loved Christmas and making sure everyone had the perfect gift. She loved meeting new people and they would quickly open up to her, many times she would know their life story in just one conversation. She loved the little things in life, always made the best of any situation. She often said that her greatest achievement in life was her son and family. Her family was her purpose, she lived for her family. She will forever be carried with us.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, father; Kay Lawrence, and mother; Elaine Franklin.
She is survived by her son; Chance Chriss Winn, daughter-in-law (that she preferred to call daughter) Kylie and two grandchildren; Kaysleigh Elaine and Coleman Harless.
My mother was a very strong and loving person, she spent the last 19 years fighting for every moment she had with us. She has left a hole that will not be filled.
Until we meet again, I love you.
