Sherwood Thomas "Woody" Bair, 79, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away, Friday, July 4, 2025, at the Residences at Creekside, Hagerstown.
Born December 7, 1945 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Russell Thomas and Helen Theresa (Needy) Bair. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Diane Christine (Moser) Bair; four brothers, Harold, Lynwood, Edward, and Nelson Bair; and two sisters, Ruth and Eileen Bair.
Woody was a 1964 graduate of North Hagerstown High School and a veteran of the Army National Guard.
He retired with 39 years of service as a lineman with Potomac Edison. After retirement he worked as a school bus driver for the Jefferson County West Virginia Board of Education and taught in the Electric Line Worker Program at Blue Ridge Community and Technical College, Martinsburg, W.V.
Woody is survived by his son, Mark A. Bair and wife, Trish; two grandchildren, Lauren Ashley Bair and Lindsay Ann Bair; two sisters, LaVerna Galliher, and Sherry Mitchell; sister-in-law Susan Bair; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Steve and Yvonne Hess, and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Woody's name to Hospice of Washington County, 1710 Underpass Way, Hagerstown, MD 21740 or to the Humane Society of Washington County, 13011 Maugansville Rd., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
