Sheryl Eileen Frank was born on March 12, 1944, in Shambaugh, Iowa, and passed from this life on November 9, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Sheryl lived a life full of love and devotion to her family. She was a proud and passionate fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder, following the team closely and cheering for the players as if they were her own kids. Her greatest joy, however, came from being deeply involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Known for her gentle, calming and sweet presence, she adored her grandkids, though her children still knew just how to push her buttons and keep her on her toes.
Sheryl and her beloved husband of 47 years, Gail, built houses together for many years before his passing. She cleaned many new houses in her time and enjoyed decorating them to help them sell. She kept the books for their business along with her job as finance director for the Court of Criminal Appeals. She and Gail spent many years at the softball field for Shelley and even more years at the motocross track for Monte. She was a hard worker, a good provider, a meticulous bookkeeper and someone who found joy in life's simple pleasures. She treasured her family.
She loved decorating her home and was always rearranging her furniture and would spend hours planning how she would arrange things. A lover of sunshine and warm weather, Sheryl could often be found tending to her flowers and enjoying the beauty around her. She also found joy in spoiling her family, indulging in a good book, and more than occasionally treating herself to her favorite sweet treat, usually cookies. The grandkids always knew they could find something sweet in grandmas cabinets.
Faith was a cornerstone of Sheryl's life. She and Gail were members of Ridgecrest United Methodist Church, where she lived out her Christian faith through kindness, encouragement, and love for others. After losing Gail, her best friend and partner, on November 9, 2013, Sheryl found strength and comfort in her family, who surrounded her with love and helped fill the space his absence left behind.
She is survived by her daughter Shelley and husband Jeff Dunham; son Monte and wife Chris Frank; grandchildren Tyler and wife Riley Dunham, Jackson Dunham, Ryder, Nakoah, Cooper, and Roczen Frank; great-granddaughter Emery Dunham; and many other loving family members and friends.
Sheryl was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gail Frank; her parents, Isa and Tad Hughes; sister, Donna Clark; and brother, Charles Hughes.
Sheryl will be remembered for her warmth, her humor, her unwavering love for her family, and her ability to make every day a little brighter for those around her. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Sheryl, please visit our floral store.
