Shirley Anne (Thompson) Allison, 90, of Port Byron, IL, died Sunday, August 24, 2025 at her home. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Bethel Baptist Church, Port Byron. Burial will be in Pleasant Point Cemetery, Port Byron. Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church. Shirley was born on June 30, 1935 at home in Erie, Illinois to Russell and Jennie (Ven Huizen) Thompson. She attended grade school in a rural one room school house in the Port Byron area, and later graduated from Port Byron High School in 1953. Shirley married Roger Allison on October 3, 1953 at Fairfield United Methodist Church in Port Byron, IL. They spent 61 wonderful years together before his passing on August 17, 2015. Shirley worked for the Riverdale School District in Port Byron as a bus driver for 27 years, retiring in June of 1998. Shirley's greatest passions were family, friends, Bethel Church and her cat, Rufus. She loved working around her yard and farm and spending countless hours at Bethel doing one ministry or another. One of her favorite ministries was tying quilts for shut-ins. Shirley is survived by her children, Brad (Laurie) Allison of Port Byron, IL, Beth (Steve) Stratton of West Des Moines, IA, Brian (Katie) Allison of Ridott, IL; grandchildren, Amanda (Jason) Floming, Josh (Melissa) Allison, Phoebe and Ryan Stratton, Grace (Colton) Lane, Jacob, and Emily Allison; great grandchildren, Giana, Isaac, Avery, Joshua and Emma; and brother, Richard "Pinky" Thompson. She was preceded in death by her husband Roger; parents; sisters, Beulah Florence and Kathleen Brooks; brothers Russell "Bud" Thompson, Jr. and Larry Thompson.
