Shirley Frances Alves

Shirley Frances (Briggs) Alves, of Uxbridge, MA, formerly of Fall River, MA and a native of North Attleboro, MA, passed away at her residence surrounded by her loving family on August 18, 2025. She was the wife of the late Daniel C. Alves.

Born in Attleboro, MA on March 3, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Chester and Rose Briggs. She was raised and educated in North Attleboro where she graduated from North Attleboro High School.

She relocated to the City of Fall River and in later years, moved to Uxbridge, MA.

Shirley, along with her husband, was employed in the jewelry industry as a diamond cutter and setter.

She cherished spending time with her family, feeding the koi and goldfish in her backyard pond, observing the seasonal hummingbirds that visited and collecting eggs from the chickens that she affectionately called, "ladies".

Left to mourn her loss are her children: Daniel Alves and his wife, Ann Alves, and Keith Alves and his wife, Jean Alves; her grandchildren:
Danny, Jeffrey and his wife, Jill, Amanda and Kevin; great granddaughter: Emma; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son: Jeffrey Alves and her siblings: Joan Elwell, Dorothy Maynard, Barbara Vincent, Dennis Briggs and Gerald Briggs.

Family and friends are warmly welcome to attend Visitation on Monday, August 25, 2025, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am in the "Memorial Chapel" followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 am in the "Memorial Chapel".

Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, Mount Hope Street, North Attleboro, MA.

Please omit flowers, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society - MA Chapter, PO Box 1120, Framingham, MA 01701or to a local, non-profit animal shelter.
