Shirley Ann Arterburn, 72, of Clifford, passed from this life at 2:47 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2023, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Arterburn was born May 26, 1951, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Lloyd T. Thompson Sr. and Josie Pope Thompson.
Shirley married Larry B. Arterburn April 3, 1987; he preceded her in death September 21, 2015.
Survivors include her children, Penny (Rick) Newby of Columbus and Amy Abner of Clifford; grandchildren, Mary-Ann (Justus) Martin, Shelby (John) Rogoszewski and Ethan Abner; brothers, John Ray Thompson and Tommy Dale Thompson both of Columbus; sisters, Kathleen (Patrick) Ogle of Columbus and Becky Sue (Tracy Woods) Coudill of Taylorsville; and fourteen nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Harold, Gerald, Ronnie, David and Lloyd Thompson Jr.; sister, Beverly Carmer; infant daughter, Lori Anne Abner; and two nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Penny Newby and Marie Carmer officiating.
Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
She will be laid to rest next to her mother at Winchester Cemetery in Shelby County.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with final expenses.
The family request that everyone attending dress casually and due to allergies please no flowers, perfume or cologne.
