SHIRLEY BURTCH
Shirley Ann Fairbanks Burtch, 93, of Denton, TX, passed away
Thursday, September 7, 2023.
Shirley was born January 4, 1930 in Topeka, KS to Charles and Connie
Puett Fairbanks. She graduated from Seaman High School in Topeka
1947. She received a B.A. From Northwestern Bible College,
Minneapolis, MN in 1951. She attended linguistic school at the
University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK in 1952 and 1953, and joined
Wycliffe Bible Translators, going to Peru, South America in 1954. She
married Bryan Burtch in Lima Peru June 1954. They spent their careers
as linguists and translators in Peru, Colombia, Panama and Aruba.
After retirement, she enjoyed working with the Awana children at
church,played the piano and raised beautiful roses.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister Nancy.
She is survived by her children Marilyn Burtch, Rodney (Cynthia)
Burtch, Phyllis Burtch Porter, Stanley (Barb) Burtch 6 grandchildren Eric
(Alana) Burtch, Dustin (Alyssa) Burtch, Andy (Hilary) Burtch, Christina
Burtch and 3 great-grandchildren Arlen, Bronwyn and Devin.
Burial took place at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton, TX. A memorial
service will be held Saturday, September 23, 2023 2:00pm at Lake Shore
Baptist Church, 276 Hundley Drive, Lake Dallas, TX.
