Shirley Carpenter Obituary Shirley M. Carpenter, 76, of Valparaiso, passed away on January 17, 2025, in Valparaiso, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 10, 1948, in Gary, Indiana, to Carl and Alma (Puckett) Thompson. On February 5, 1968, Shirley married the love of her life, William "George" Carpenter, who survives her. Shirley enjoyed her time working her garden and tending to her beautiful flowers. She also enjoyed spending her day mowing the yard and searching for that incredible bargain while shopping. Most importantly she always put her family before everything (even cleaning). She put her heart and soul into being an amazing wife, mother, and Grammie. She is survived by her children Bridgette (Douglas) Suprenant, Barbara Ann (Jon) Napier; daughter-in-law Elaine (Kevin Pastrick) Carpenter; and siblings Frank Thompson and Carla Goldschmidt She is also survived by her grandchildren Chase, Trevor, Alyssa, Gavin, Aaron, Linsey, Macie, William, Travis, Shane, Courtney, Alexa, and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved son Scot Carpenter and sister Brenda Thompson. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Bartholomew Funeral Home at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Kouts immediately following. The family would like to have guests join for a celebration of life after the burial at Lower Lincoln, 212 E. Lincolnway, Valparaiso, Suite LL, (below Buffalo Wild Wings) from 1:00 PM-to:4:00 PM.
