Shirley Kay (Cato) Chamness, 79, entered into heavenly rest on Friday, January 31, 2025. She was born in Indianapolis, IN on November 11, 1945, to the late Artho and Ina Cato.
Shirley was the most wonderful wife, mother, Mamaw, Great-Grandma, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends who loved her.
She was a member and served diligently at Good Shephard United Methodist Church. She loved going to church and spending time with church friends. She had many talents including singing, writing poems, being a beautician, and being a homemaker.
She was well known for her cooking and many people in the community, family, and friends have had the pleasure of enjoying her delicious food.
She was the most devoted wife and caregiver to her husband David for 60 years.
Shirley most treasured her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved going to any event they were in and watching them grow. She hosted the best sleep-overs and swim parties. Shirley told the best bed-time stories to her grands and made memories for a lifetime. These children brought her so much joy and blessings. She had a wonderful smile that brightened a room, and everyone was always happy to see her. She was our sunshine and heart of our family.
