J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel and Cremation ServicesShirley Chianese, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on August 25, 2025, in Bristol, Pennsylvania, at the age of 88. Born on October 22, 1936, in Trenton, New Jersey, Shirley lived a vibrant life that spanned nearly nine decades, spending over 60 years in her cherished home in Levittown, Pennsylvania.
Known for her deep passion for gardening (and a yard full of trees), Shirley cultivated both her garden and the hearts of those around her. She took great joy in nurturing her plants and creating a welcoming space for wildlife, routinely keeping them fed and watered. As a recent member of the Bell Choir at Legacy Gardens of Bristol, Shirley’s sweet and sensitive nature was apparent to those who entered her life, respectful and helpful to all.
Shirley is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Howard McBane of Morrisville and her “second daughter”, Linda’s lifelong friend, Ginny Hancin, as well as her sister, Jane Walton of Laceyville, Pennsylvania. Her legacy continues through her grandson, Eric McBane, and his fiancée, Kathleen Burns. Shirley also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, who carry fond memories of her nurturing spirit and gentle laughter.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph Chianese, and her parents, Walter Woodward and Jeannie Harney Woodward.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a graveside service that will take place on August 30, 2025, at Morrisville Cemetery, located at S Pennsylvania Ave & Anderson Ave, Morrisville, Pennsylvania. The service will commence at 10:00 AM, followed by her interment.
For those wishing, in lieu of flowers and in honor of Shirley’s love of nature and animals, memorial contributions in Shirley’s name may be sent to the Arbor Day Foundation or the Bucks County S.P.C.A., 1665 Street Road, Lahaska, PA 18931.
Shirley Chianese's memory will forever remain in the hearts of her loved ones, who will cherish the laughter, love, and lessons she imparted throughout her remarkable life.
