SHIRLEY MOORE CHUNN
COX FUNERAL HOME
BASTROP, LOUISIANA
Shirley Marilyn Chunn was born at Bastrop, Louisiana on October 28, 1943 to the late Herman Wesley Moore and Ethel Kelly Moore. She passed away, at the Oak Woods Health and Rehab in Mer Rouge, Louisiana on the morning of November 24, 2025. Along with her parents, Mrs. Chunn is preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, James Albert Chunn; and two brothers, Jack George and Jimmie George.
Mrs. Chunn was a lifelong member of the Bonne Idee Assembly of God, a retired insurance agent and producer, and former post mistress for the Bonita and Jones, Louisiana post offices.. Shirley was a Proverbs 31 woman, strong in her faith to her Lord, devoted to her family, gracious to her church family, a skilled and hard worker, and compassionate to anyone in need. She loved to sing and shared her talents as a song worship leader for many years. Shirley's greatest accomplishment on earth was her family and the love she held for each of them is forever a treasured gift. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her much joy and happiness in her life. Always willing, always generous and attentive, Shirley's life was a blessing to all fortunate to know her.
Mrs. Chunn is survived by her daughters, Pam Ferrell and her husband, Cliff, Kristi Diel and her husband, Scott; her son, Chris Chunn and his wife, Rhonda; six grandchildren, Chassidy Hawkins and her husband, Cory, Skyler Robinson and her husband, Logan, Amber Pruitt and her husband, Garrett, Adam Hart, Brent West and his wife, Shelby, and Hannah Sharp and her husband, James. She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren, Trystan Hawkins, Asher Burch, Bret Hawkins, Phoenix Robinson, Judah Robinson, Ainslee Pruitt, J.J. Pruitt, Gracyn West, Bowe West, Jack West, Irelyn Sharp, and Elliot Sharp; her brother, Larry Moore and his wife, Geraldine; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. Funeral services celebrating and honoring Mrs. Shirley's life will be 11:00 AM Friday, November 28th, at the Bonne Idee Assembly of God, Mer Rouge, Louisiana with Bro. Jerry Stuckey officiating. Committal services and burial will follow at Mer Rouge Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Homes of Bastrop.
