Shirley Mae Cook, age 66, of Shelbyville, passed peacefully from this life on August 12, 2025, at her home, surrounded by love and under the care of Hospice Compassus.

Born on July 19, 1959, in Bloomingdale, IL, Shirley was the daughter of the late Oscar Lee Sharp and Mary Ezell Pugh Sharp. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Albert Webb Sharp; and step-granddaughter, Amber Nichols.

She is survived by her children: Timothy Edward Cook, Thomas "Keith" Cook, and Karrie Michelle Mulgado, all of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Jordan Lynch, Gracie Ratleph, Addison Cook, Ashlynn Apostol, Aubrey Winfrey, and Candice Blodgett; and great-grandchildren, Kash Lynch, Eliana Ratleph, Dominique Ratleph, Damian Woods, Dominique Blodgett, Alexander Blodgett, Charlie Hollis, and Levi Winfrey. She also leaves behind her siblings: Patricia K. Allen of Lewisburg, Ronnie Lee (Mary Lou) Sharp of Chapel Hill, Terry Wayne (Cathey) Sharp of AL, Carolyn Jean Camacho of Shelbyville, Stephen Richard (Terie) Sharp of Shelbyville, Nancy Lynn Baker of Shelbyville, and Mary Helen (Tim) Estes of Shelbyville; along with many nieces and nephews.

Shirley found joy in the quiet comforts of life. She loved to crochet, cross-stitch, and solve word puzzles. Earlier in life, she was a true country soul, she embraced farm life-tending her vegetable garden, canning, and raising cattle. Her favorite pastime was spending time and cutting up with family and friends.

Visitation with the family will be held 2-4p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2025, in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 p.m. with Tony Harris officiating.

Following services Shirley chose cremation and her ashes will be interred at Willow Mount Cemetery at a later date.
