Shirley was born in Valley Mills, Texas, on September 30, 1935, to H. A. and Myrtice (Boyd) Loutherback. She married Cecil Ray Denman on August 2, 1953, in
Stephenville, Texas. He preceded her in death on September 18, 1991.
Shirley was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas. Shirley loved to read, work puzzles, and spend time with her family.
Our mother and mammaw was a gracious, beautiful, giving, serving, Godly woman. She loved God first and foremost, then her family, friends, church and strangers. In her youth, she surrendered her life to God and was led to be a missionary nurse. Unknown to her, her mission field was to be raising 5 children. She was faithful to raise us in a non-perfect Christian home, taking us all to church every Sunday morning, Sunday night and Wednesday nights. Mother taught Sunday school at First Baptist Church Stephenville and later at First Baptist Church Dallas, teaching for over 50 yrs. After she and dad sold their carpet business, she worked at First Baptist Church Stephenville, serving as the music and youth ministers secretary to two of God's greatest servants. After our dad died, mother continued to serve at the church where she continued to teach Sunday school, ESL and volunteered at Grace Place where she prayed with many who gave their lives to Christ. She also served several women in the church, taking them to their Dr appts. She finally made it to the mission field by traveling to six countries with Michael Gott International teaching ESL to children and adults. After suffering cardiac arrest in 2004, she was not able to travel. In 2014, I was fortunate to begin our 11 year journey together, caring and serving mother in my home. We had our moments, but it has been my honor and great pleasure to be God's servant to care for you. My heart is overjoyed because you are where you have longed to be! I will miss you until we meet again! I know that Jesus welcomed you with open arms and said, "WELL DONE, MY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT!!" I love you, mother!
