Shirley Mae Bruce Duvall, 74, of Madisonville, KY passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at her home.

She was born on November 14, 1950, in Madisonville, KY, to the late Hilda Rae Williams Gammon and John William Bruce. She was formerly employed for thirty-seven years with the Hopkins County Board of Education where she worked as the secretary at Waddill Elementary and Jesse Stuart Elementary schools. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. Shirley was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Willie Gammon; stepmother, Jo Bruce; brother, Darrell Wayne Bruce; and her sister, Diane Cunningham.

Her survivors include her husband of fifty-seven years, Billy Duvall of Madisonville; son, Jeff (Debrina) Duvall and Christopher (Stacey) Duvall, both of Madisonville; sister, Lisa Whitfield of Madisonville; grandchildren, Morgan (Joseph) Peyton, Trevor Duvall, Coleman Duvall, and Bailee Duvall; great-grandchildren, Riley Peyton, Reagan Peyton, Greyson Peyton; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2025, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Rutherford officiating. A private burial will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, KY.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until noon on Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Jeff Duvall, Chris Duvall, Trevor Duvall, Coleman Duvall, Todd Duvall, Brian Duvall, and Joseph Peyton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Shirley's memory to The Alzheimer's Association for Greater Kentucky and Southern Indiana Chapter at https://www.alz.org/kyin

Sweetest Shirley, May you fly high with the Angels in God's loving care. You meant alot to our family, you were such a joy and such a Beautiful cousin. You and Billy were the perfect couple. I know he is lost right now, but praying God's love to surround him with comfort in knowing that you have no more pain, you wont be worried any more.
