In Loving Memory of Shirley Lee Edwin
Shirley Lee Tolbert, born on April 22, 1936, in Kansas City, Missouri to Theodore and Carrie Tolbert, was a remarkable woman whose life was filled with love, dedication, and passion. A proud graduate of R.T. Coles High School in 1954, she embraced her trade in sewing, which became more than just a skill*it was a means of expressing her creativity and nurturing those around her. She wanted to be known as a *seamstress*.
In 1961 Shirley became Shirley Lee Edwin after marrying Edward *Eddie* Edwin, who preceded her in death in 2023. Together they created a loving home filled with warmth and laughter. Her deep love for Edward was the foundation of their life together, and their memories will live on in the hearts of all who loved them.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. As a devoted member of the St. Louis Church and a participant in the Knights of Peter Cleaver Ladies Auxiliary, Shirley found purpose in serving others, embodying the essence of kindness and generosity.
One of her greatest passions was her career as an Avon representative, where she excelled for many years, consistently ranking among the top in her district. Her enthusiasm for the products and her genuine love for connecting with people brought joy to countless customers, making her a beloved figure in her community.
Shirley cherished her family. Her love was a guiding light, illuminating the lives of herchildren, grandchildren, family, and friends. She taught them the values of hard work, dedication, and the importance of nurturing relationships. Shirley had a deep love for music, especially the soulful tunes of Al Green. You could often find her dancing to his melodies. The Edwin home was a gathering place for family and friends, where she hosted lively parties and created unforgettable memories.
As we remember Shirley, let us celebrate a life rich in love and kindness. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, creativity, and unwavering support, reminding us to embrace our passions and hold our loved ones close. Shirley Lee Edwin will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers Jimmy and Richard and a grandson, Todd Edwin Jr.
She leaves behind cherished memories with her five children: Richard (Kendra) Edwin, Todd (Wanda) Edwin, Gary Edwin, Shiela Edwin, and Walter Edwin all of Kansas City, MO.
She is also survived by six granddaughters, seven grandsons, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
