Shirley Dean Greenhill, 90, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on February 16, 1935, in Durham County, North Carolina, Shirley was the youngest of seven children and the last surviving child of the late Claude Franklin Dean and Dottie Riddle Dean. Raised in a close-knit farming family, Shirley developed a deep appreciation for nature, hard work, and the simple joys of life.
Shirley was a devoted Christian woman whose faith was the cornerstone of her life. A graduate of RHEMA Bible College, she was an active member of Fayetteville Community Church before later joining Covenant Love Church. Her unwavering love for the Lord was evident in the way she lived her life-always with kindness, humility, and compassion.
She found joy in the outdoors, whether it was gardening, fishing, or simply enjoying nature. She was also known for her delicious homemade baked goods and hearty meals, always made from scratch with love. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and welcome, especially for her family.
Above all, Shirley was a loving and dedicated mother, wife, granny, and friend. She cherished her family deeply and was a steady presence in their lives. Her beloved fur baby, Benji, was never far from her side and brought her much happiness in her later years.
She is survived by her sons, Billy Greenhill and his fiancée, Danielle Stephens, and Kenneth Greenhill; her cherished granddaughter, Katlyn Greenhill and husband Logan Person; and her daughters-in-law, Lorena Greenhill and Melike Cinar.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 from 11 am to 12 pm at Covenant Love Church. A funeral service will follow at 12 pm. Burial will be at Fayetteville Memorial Cemetery at 1 pm.
Shirley's warmth, strength, and faith-filled spirit will be remembered and missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Arrangements by Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, 545 Ramsey St., Fayetteville, N.C. 28301.
