Shirley Hageman, 88, passed away on Wednesday, January 17th, 2024 in Scotch Plains. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Robert and Annie "Ida" Neilson, Shirley was a resident of Scotch Plains for over 50 years.
Shirley was an avid cook and baker. She spent many hours in the kitchen with her grandchildren baking shortbread cookies, as well as many other treats for her family and friends to enjoy. She also found great joy in reading all different types of books. She loved spending time and the holidays with her family. Shirley enjoyed seeing her grandchildren's accomplishments, as they were some of her proudest moments. She loved traveling all over the world with her husband, Walter.
Predeceased in 2018 by her husband of 62 years, Walter, and their daughter Bonnie Gajdzisz in 2019, Shirley is survived by her daughters, Wendy Sullivan, and Trish Brown and husband Peter; son-in-law John Gajdzisz; grandchildren, Sean, Kelly and her husband Anthony, Ryan, Taylor, and Tommy; as well as, Lauren, Ward and Francie Young who were a very special part of her life.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 27th at the First United Methodist Church of Scotch Plains, located at 1171 Terrill Road.
