Shirley A. Hoppman, 89, of Denver, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Denver to the late Earl and Florence (Ream) Hornberger and was the wife of the late Charles E. Hoppman who passed away September 6, 2023, with whom she shared 71 years of marriage.
A member of Swamp Lutheran Church, she loved to read magazines and books, gardening, the beach, and family trips to the Smokey Mountains. She enjoyed journaling about the events of her family's life. She also enjoyed playing games with her childhood friends whom she kept in touch with. She loved handwriting letters and sending very personalized cards. Her birthday cards were tailor made. She especially loved spending time with her grandkids. Shirley was a kind, caring, loving wonderful mother and grandmother, who will be greatly missed.
Shirley is survived by 3 children, Beth A. Fetter, wife of Dwane, Mark A. Hoppman, and Lisa A. Ferry, wife of the late James; 6 grandchildren, Amanda K. Oyler, wife of Josh, Derek P. Fetter, husband of Kristin, Nicholas J. Ferry, husband of Rebecca, Tyler M. Hoppman, Anja M. Ferry, and Isabella M. Hoppman; and a great-grandchild on the way. Also survived by a brother, LaVern Hornberger, husband of Georgie, and 2 nieces.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Dion C. Hoppman.
A viewing will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024, from 10 to 11 AM at the Swamp Lutheran Church, 275 Swamp Church Road, Reinholds, PA 17569. Funeral services will follow at 11 AM, with Pastor Scott V. Brubaker officiating. Interment will take place in the Fairview Cemetery Annex.
