Mrs. Shirley A. Janos, age 83, passed away on May 26, 2025, at her home.
Shirley was born in Akron, Michigan, on April 7, 1942, daughter of Bruce & Helma Kintner (née Broderick). On June 30, 1978, she wed Edward Janos. Together, they shared countless memories, raised their children, and celebrated over 40 years of marriage before his passing in 2018. Before retirement, Shirley worked as a billing specialist and caregiver at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. She enjoyed painting, knitting, crocheting, and tending to her flower garden. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and being a grandmother to her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Katrina “Tina” (Harold Jr.) Lineske; grandchildren: Michelle Lineske, Mitchell (Jami) Lineske, and Katrina (Tristen)Horton; great-grandchildren: Becca Miller, Alyssa Miller, Farrah Miller, Jacob Miller, Kristina Jackson, Kaylee Hardin, Adam Alex Simpson, Kira Weiber, Kendall Weiber, Aralynn Lineske, and Owen Lineske; great-great-grandchildren: Josiah Buckner, Jeremiah Buckner, Margot Peck, Greyson Miller, Mason Miller, and Nolan King; sisters, Irene Bradley, and Linda (Jim) Valentine; brother, Gene (Linda) Kintner; sister-in-law, Denise Kintner; stepson, Philip Janos; step-grandchildren: Jacklynn Janos, and Kirsten Janos; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Janos; son, David Norrington; grandson, Andrew Miller; brothers, Jim Kintner, and Keith Kintner; sister, Kay McPherson; sister-in-law, Ann Kintner; brothers-in-law, Bob McPherson, and Glenn Bradley.
Shirley’s family will receive visitors at Hanlin Funeral Home in Vassar from 3 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2025. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025; additional visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and last until the time of service. Afterwards, Shirley will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery in Vassar.
Memorial donations may be directed to the family's discretion.
