Shirley Lyons Johnson, of Lexington, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025, at Hinkle Hospice House. Shirley was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Born on February 1, 1949, to the late Chester and Alice Lyons, Shirley was known for her strength, determination, and the unique way she made things happen—earning her the affectionate nickname “Mrs. Make It Happen.” She loved spending time with her family, cooking, and canning, and her kitchen was often filled with warmth, laughter, and the wonderful smells of her homemade dishes.
Along with her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lamon Lester Johnson, and her brother-in-law, Lynn Snider.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Kelly Johnson; daughters, Ann Johnson, and Carolina Lyons; brother, Chester Lyons Jr.; sister, Alice Snider; seven adored grandchildren; fifteen precious great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
