Shirley Koeshall, age 91, of Rome, Wis., passed away peacefully on Monday, December 1, 2025, at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau, Wis.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
She was born on May 1, 1934, in San Diego, California, to Michael and Catherine Keller. Shirley married the love of her life, James Koeshall, on June 6, 1953, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. Together they built a warm and welcoming home filled with laughter, faith, and devotion to family.
A compassionate and dedicated nurse, Shirley worked at Riverview Hospital and multiple nursing homes from 1970 until 1985. Her gentle nature, strong work ethic, and genuine care touched countless lives during her years of service.
Outside of her career, Shirley found joy in many pursuits. She was a loving homemaker who delighted in sewing, reading, and raising her family. She treasured time spent fishing, watching birds and wildlife, and caring for her beloved dogs. Her church family held a special place in her heart, and she nurtured many meaningful friendships throughout her life. In her younger years, Shirley was also a proud member of the Red Hat Society, enjoying camaraderie and fun with her fellow members.
Shirley is survived by her husband, James "Jim" Koeshall; children, James Koeshall Jr., David (Robin) Koeshall, John (Mary) Koeshall, Kevin (Rika) Koeshall, Linda Koeshall Douglas; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and sister, Barbara Nelson.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Mickey Keller; one grandson and one great-grandson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lakes Area Christian Fellowship.
