Shirley Mae Marsh, 92, of Dixon, IL, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at her home in Dixon.
Shirley was born on March 18, 1932, in Dixon, the daughter of James Edwin and Helen (Meyers) Bollman. She married Harold Helfrich, Jr., on August 18, 1950, in Oregon, IL. Together they had six children: Linda, Cheryl, Barbara, Pam, Scott and John. Harold preceded her in death on November 11, 1977. Shirley later married Charles D. Marsh on October 1, 1982. He preceded her in death on January 3, 2013. She enjoyed spending time with the family, working on her puzzles, serving time as a foster grandparent at a local daycare, and collecting cookie jars, many many, cookie jars.
Shirley is survived by her children, Linda (Larry) Long, Barb Helfrich, Pam (David) Brooks, Scott (Julie) Helfrich, John (Alice) Helfrich, son-in-law, Woody Lenox; brother, Robert Bollman, sister, Patricia McIntyre, sister, Marilyn Gennaro, brother-in-law, Louis Both; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Harold Helfrich, Jr.; second husband, Charles Marsh; daughters, Cheryl Helfrich, Rhonda Lenox; infant son, Harold James Helfrich; granddaughter, Whitney-Jo Helfrich; great-grandson, Andrew Tobin; siblings, Donald (Patricia) Bollman, Kenneth (Bonnie) Bollman, Richard (Nancy) Bollman, Carol Mann, Sharon Both; and brother-in-law, Bernard McIntyre
A Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until the time of the Funeral Service at 10:30 am on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon, with Rev. Mary Ann Rhoades, Deacon of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Dixon, officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon.
Memorials may be directed to Open Sesame Daycare in Dixon.
Arrangements were completed by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon.
