Shirley McDeremith, age 91, of Paris, Tennessee passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. There will be no public visitation and a private family service to be held later and conducted by Pastor Koh Yamamoto of Christ Lutheran Church. Cremation is planned following her service.
Shirley Parks McDermith was born October 10, 1934 in Decatur, Illinois to the late Clyde Parks and the late Thelma Hickman Parks. She married Howard Wayne McDermith on June 24, 1951 and he preceded her in death on January 1, 2022.
Mrs. McDermith is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Jeff) Shonkwiler of Bement, Illinois, Lori (Morgan) Taylor of Paris, Christie (David) Paul of St. Joseph, Illinois; sons, Ronald (Carol) McDermith of Paris, Dennis McDermith of Como, and Richard (Paula) McDermith of Monticello, Illinois; by ten grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Shirley is also preceded in death by her daughter, Cherly Priest; sister and brother-in-law, Valaria (Cliff) Martin; and her brother and sister-in-law, Bob (Teresa) Parks.
Mrs. McDermith was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church. She was well known for her baking, especially her strawberry rhubarb pies. Shirley was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed family time, especially when spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
